The original home of the (Jandl) Yandel family was Illmitz, Burgenland, Austria which was then a part of Austria-Hungary.
Immigrating in 1892, Stephan Yandel, his wife Theresia and their two children Florian and Eva, ventured into the new land of the United States. They first settled in Zell, South Dakota with his brother Florian, who had moved there three years previously.
In 1902, Stephen and his family moved to Vibank Saskatchewan. They moved again in 1917 to Southey where they finally built their own homestead. (See maps below)
